What is the CE Certification?
CE Marking is an acronym for COMMUNAUTÉ’ EUROPÉENNE in French, which is a mandatory certification mark of the European Union and the European Community. Since the European Business Community was established at the suggestion of France in 1958, it was incorporated into the European Union and signed a single European Act in December 1985. Main targeted goods are toys, gas appliances, machinery, electromagnetic compatibility, communication terminals, non-automatic scales, personal protective equipment, medical equipment, etc.
In December 1990, when testing and certification systems for conformity with product standards and technical regulations were unified into a comprehensive approach, the certification process or certification mark for each product has been passed. Placing the CE mark on a product means that the product or manufacturer meets the Essential Requirements of the EC Council or the Directive. In other words, it means that one of the manufacturers, importers or third parties has carried out the conformity assessment related to the product so that the product can be distributed in the market without any restrictions. CE marking is required for products related to consumer health, safety and the environment.
Currently, in EU countries, the CE certificate is considered as a “commercial passport” for products to circulate in the EU market. Many goods are confiscated by EU customs as bad or returned goods because they have no CE Marking. CE has many different names CE Marking, CE Mark, CE Mark conformity certification. According to the document the European Commission, it is officially called CE Marking. CE Marking is required for many products and indicates:
– Test products to meet EU requirements for environment, safety and health.
– Prove that the product complies with EU legislation.
– Allow free circulating products within the European market.
CE certification (CE Marking certificate) is also considered as a “commercial passport” for products to enter the European EU market. CE Standard of Conformity – Product that CE Requirements
A CE Marking organization must obtain a Notified Body number from the European Commission with a scope recognized, and information displayed on the European Commission’s website: http://ec.europa. eu/ . If a fake or unrecognized CE Marking certificate is used, the product will be returned because it does not meet EU requirements and lacks relevant technical documents. CE marking is applied to many different products. Products that meet CE marking standards will be freely circulated on the European market. CE Marking is required but only for products that fall within the scope of one or more of the required Directives. Not all products are required to carry the CE marking. CE Marking is not required for items such as:
– Chemicals
– Textiles
– Food.
Manufacturers applying CE Marking are responsible for
– Perform conformity test.
– Development of technical documents (TCF).
– EC Declaration of Conformity and CE Certification.
– Mark CE.
